Letter from our Dean
Dear families,
Welcome back from Spring Break and into the home stretch!
While we were out, our middle school students were still working hard.  They were accepted into the Streets to the Sea Challenge event, sponsored by Tree People.  This event educates others about water conservation and water quality and takes place at the Disney Synergy Lab in Burbank.  Our students created a display to convey the steps they are taking in their project to replace plastic bags (and other plastic items) at food banks and replace them with reusable items in order to help get plastic out of the waste stream and into our oceans.  They represented our school well and brought home another trophy!
We had a well-attended and informative Discussion with the Dean on Tuesday evening. Our special guest Marlene Martin talked to the group of parents about what how to discover what lies beyond their child’s challenging behaviors. We discussed being CuriousCompassionate, and forming Connections. I couldn’t help but feel at the end of the evening that there was a desire for a Part 2 in order to apply what was discussed.  So… I’m happy to announce:
Discussion with the Dean - Evening Edition Part 2!

Tuesday, May 21st
6:00 - 7:30 p.m.

Attendance at the first one is definitely NOT a requirement to come to this one.  All are welcome!  We will discuss our own emotions that come up with our children’s behaviors, how to let our children (and ourselves) sit in discomfort to foster resiliency, the meaning underneath behaviors and also practical ideas for our tool boxes.
This event is free, open to our parents/caregivers, and adult-only.  Please bring paper, pen, and your favorite beverage if desired.
Have a beautiful weekend,
From the Office

Scrip Update

Greetings from Scrip Land!

I will order plastic cards from Shop With Scrip on May 15th if we have enough orders to cover the cost of shipping.

Also, if you have not fulfilled your school-yearly scrip obligation of $75 in donations per family, the business office will bill you at the end of the year.  If you plan to pay the business office the $75 if you have not used any scrip companies this school year, could you kindly let me know at  scrip@maplevillageschool.org? Then I can mark your scrip donation for school year 2018-2019 as complete on my spreadsheet.
You can buy scrip cards on the go on your phone and use your CREDIT CARD. Benefit Mobile allows for credit card use, and you can even buy scrip in exact amounts, like $32.87, instead of having to buy $40.  https://www.benefit-mobile.com/
Keep the donations coming with the Lazy Acres Community Card, Amazon Smile, Mighty Nest, Shop With Scrip, Ralph’s Supermarkets Community Card, EScrip, and iGive!
