Dear Maple Village Families,
This was a busy week with a Kindergarten Parent Evening, the first Parent Book Study with Kathy Rinden, the 2nd grade play “The King of Ireland’s Son," and our Administrative team went to the ANA (Administrative Network of AWSNA) meeting on Tuesday, held at Pasadena Waldorf School.
It is always so rewarding to sit with administrators from eight other Waldorf Schools in Southern California to discuss areas such as business practices, communication and outreach, pedagogical matters, enrollment/admissions, and parent work. This year, the AWSNA representative from Waldorf 100 also came to talk about exciting events in place for our 100th anniversary on September 19th. We will be sharing as they unfold!
One of the topics of the conference this year was Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. I am proud to say that Maple Village is taking the lead in the region. As I gave a report on how we are including diversity in our everyday practices, as Kari said, “they all leaned in.” I am now receiving emails from the other schools with requests for guidance. It is good to be reminded that even as a younger school, we are also leaders!

Dear Maple Village community,
With sincere gratitude, we will update you weekly on the total number of $400 contributions we have received so far for the 2019 Parent Donation Fund.
As of 3/29/2019, we have received $10,378 from 20 families totaling 27 students.

New Book Study Group
We had a wonderful first meeting this week working with the first ten pages of our book. Everyone is welcome at our next gathering, even if you missed the first one!
All MVWS parents and community members are invited to join a new book study group led by MVWS Kindergarten teacher Kathy Rinden. The first book studied will be “The Education of the Child” by Rudolf Steiner. We will meet for 5 Wednesdays from 6-7:30pm in the Grove. The dates will be March 27, April 3, April 10, May 1, and May 8th.

Scrip Update
Hello Villagers,
Do you shop at Lazy Acres? If so, have you signed up for their scrip reward benefits by using their Lazy Acres Community Card? Every time you shop at Lazy Acres, 4% of your total gets donated back to Maple Village when you use the Community Card. You can track your donation total through eScrip. This is a simple way to passively donate to the school and help to fulfill your yearly scrip donation minimum.
If you need plastic scrip cards from Shop With Scrip, please order by noon on April 5 so that the cards arrive before spring break.

Lock in the early bird rate of $40 & PAY NOW!
The cutoff date for this rate is Friday, April 12th, 2019.
You may pay by cash, check, or let the office know you want to be billed (cc payments = extra $4 fee).
Because the rate is dependent on how many books will be in the second order, missing out on the first order's "early bird" pricing could mean paying more than twice as much! Get on it.

Red Rose Co. After School Activities
Tuesday: 3rd grade to 8th grade, 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Wednesday: Kindergarten to 8th grade, 1:30 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Students will be driven to Marina Vista Park from school in the Red Rose Co. van. Parents pick up at Marina Vista Park.
