Letter from our Dean
Dear Maple Village Families,

Thank you so much to all of you who attended our Town Hall Meeting on Wednesday evening. We had a large turn-out, which was so good to see. The Board gave a very clear presentation, and they were able to answer many important questions from parents.

Here is the message brought at the beginning, middle and end of the evening, which is so important to know, lest you thought anything different:

Our school is absolutely not closing!
This is a change in course. The boat is not sinking.
We are growing up, and we have a tight, strategic plan
to move forward.

Overall, the school is forging forth with more accountability, and people have given much feedback about leaving the meeting more connected, empowered, positive and on the same page. The Board has let me know they are receiving many emails from parents who want to help reach out to connections and work together to find solutions.

A summary of the presentation will be sent to all families early next week.

This morning, at Discussion with the Dean, we had a good conversation about  “The Gift of No.” We focused on giving children healthy boundaries and  teaching them they cannot have everything they want when they want it. (I know, right?) This enables the children to grow into responsible, balanced adults.  Please read the article here for support and motivation!

Please note: Due to a low number of reservations, we are postponing Experience the Grades to the evening of  Tuesday, February 26th.  We felt this timing would be much better for our community. See below for details.

Have a safe, rainy-day weekend,
Lisa

From the Board: New 10-Day Delinquent Payment Policy

Dear friends, families of Maple Village School,

As the Board examines our financial picture, we see how many families are waiting until the very last minute (or sometimes later) to pay their school fee invoices.  This significantly impacts our cash flow, as well as the hours the business office must spend on following through.  In the past, payments have been deemed delinquent after 30 days, just before the next payment is due.

In an effort to bring us all into a higher level of accountability, we decided to change this policy from 30 days to 10 days, after which the delinquent payment process will be triggered.  After the second late payment, we will require a credit card to be on file.  This policy change will take effect  today on February 1st.  We appreciate this shift in dates may cause some discomfort at first, but please recognize we are implementing this change in order to be fair to our administration and our teachers, and to minimize the hours of impact on our business office.

To review: the delinquent payment policy (late fee, potential financial suspension of student[s]) will now be triggered when the payment is 10 days late, and we will require a credit card to be on file after the second late payment.  This policy is effective February 1st.

Thank you for your understanding and support of our school,
The MVWS Board of Trustees:
