Letter from our Dean
Dear Maple Village Families,

The halls, parks and rooms are filled with the sounds and smells of the holidays! How wonderful it has been to extend our school days to include family in so many potlucks and celebration of the season.

Thank you to our Strings teachers, Miss Anna and Miss Lucy, and our Chorus teacher, Miss Francesca, for a spectacular concert on Wednesday evening! The Chorus (5th - 8th grade) rung out with harmonies and layers of beauty.  It was our first year of having a full orchestra (4th - 8th), and it is so impressive. The work our students have put into their lessons is very apparent. They rightly stood proud.  Bravo!
Thank you for your well-wishes, your smiles, your gifts and treats.

Thank you for bringing your children to our school and for being an integral part of this heart-centered community.

I hope your holidays are full of family, wonder, inspiration, peace, laughter, emotional, mental and physical health and, of course, love.

Lisa

Annual Giving Campaign

Hello Villagers,

Thank you to all who have participated in our Annual Giving thus far. We have reached a little over our halfway mark monetarily with a little under half of our families participating! Wooohooo!!

I wanted to let you all know of an exciting incentive that has been presented. We have a family who is willing to match future donations dollar for dollar up to $5,000. Meaning that every dollar that you donate to Maple Village will equal two dollars! If you give $100 the school will actually receive $200. We must reach our goal of $10,000 by January 31st to receive this generous gift. With only half of our families participating we have been able to reach our halfway mark. I know we can do this!

Over the holidays, as we see our extended family and friends and share what a difference Waldorf education and Maple Village is making in our children's lives (as well as our own), we also have the opportunity to ask for their support to our Annual Giving Campaign. We have a convenient link to our Fundly page or a check may be written to the school (please note it is for Annual Giving).

I will be filling in the class leaves of our Maple Village Tree sign (hanging outside the yard gate) as each family donates. Each leaf represents 1/2 the class (except Pre-School and Parent Tot which have 4 leaves each) so look to see that all of your leaves are filling in and encourage other families in your class to participate. Please remember that it is not the dollar amount that counts as much as participation.

Thank you all for your support and I wish you a safe and happy Holidays!

In Gratitude,
Kari

Reminders

Just a friendly reminder:  When you are on campus to pick up your children at dismissal, please keep your children with you outside the gate, so we are clear who is supervising them.  If your child needs to reenter the playground or building to retrieve something, please go with them to do so.

Thank you!
Waldorf 100 Celebrations

Hopefully, you all enjoyed watching the Waldorf 100 films last week.  Just when you thought the Waldorf 100 entertainment was completeā€¦  Each school has been asked to interview and record interviews with founders and teachers, and Waldorf associations have joined with StoryCorps to do so.  This first round is dedicated to founders of schools (the next will be Kindergarten teachers and then Grades teachers).

Here is a link to hear many interesting school foundersā€™ interviews across the world. Carver Scott is our parent volunteer coordinator, and while MVWS has six founders (Yvette Fabian, Andrea and Henning Knoepfle, Susan Avery Brown, Chip and Lisa McCarthy), Lisa was asked to complete this interview with Carver.   Stay tuned for more interviews with a few of our teachers in the new year!

Morning Care Volunteers Needed

We are looking for parent volunteers to sign students in to morning care on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday mornings between 8:00 - 8:30 a.m.  This will count towards your volunteer hours.  Please let the office know if you can help us!
Aftercare Wishlist

Hi Maple Village families!

Cleaning out some cupboards before the holidays?  Forgot to donate some stuff to the rummage sale?  Good news!  Aftercare is looking for a few more games and other household items for donation:

  • Mancala
  • Checkers
  • Chess
  • Uno
  • Connect 4
  • Soccer balls and basketballs
  • Yoga mats to be repurposed as nap mats
  • A few small trash cans
  • Blackout or heavy curtains to aid in our early childhood resting environment
Please leave any and all items on the list in the Grove marked "Aftercare Donation". Thank you so much in advance!

Thank you to Robert Dameron for the very generous donation of a new basketball hoop, which our students are enjoying with great enthusiasm!  Thank you as well to our blanket/quilt donors!

Kindly,
Ms. Ciana and the Aftercare Staff
