Letter from our Dean
Dear Maple Village Families,

Thank you for joining our annual Lantern Walk yesterday. We have gotten so large, and what a beautiful site to see so many lanterns lighting up the early darkness.  All of the handmade lanterns were simply stunning.
Just a reminder if you are visiting the school, enter through our front door (no entry at the courtyard gate). You will notice a difference at our front door entrance, as the door will now remain locked from 9:15 - 5:30.  Please call the school number if you are at the door and need to enter.  (There is a sign on the door with all information needed.) As always, if you are visiting a classroom, please sign-in at the office and obtain your visitor pass.  Also, please remember to close the door firmly behind you when exiting.  Our new office window will be installed over the Thanksgiving Break.  At that point, you will be able to be helped at the pass through window or be permitted to enter the school for volunteering, meetings, etc.

This week I had the pleasure of watching our students perform beautifully for each other on our last day of our Fall Eurythmy block. Thank you again to our Board President,  Darshi Balasuriya for providing housing for Mr. Dupuis for the last 7 weeks and to  Alicia Sovich and Robert Dameron for providing him transportation.  This week I also loved working with our middle school students on applying for an International Plastic Ocean Pollution Solutions Summit, reading one-on-one with our third grade students, counseling children who needed an extra ear, and talking to parents about child development and sharing ideas to implement at home.  I find such value in working directly with you and your children. Thank you.

Get ready for our HUGE Harvest Faire - It is only a week away! We are still truly needing volunteer help, so see the information below regarding how to sign up and please help our village!

Our Lost & Found grows during these cool mornings and warm afternoons, as children shed jackets during recess time. We try to catch which is whose, but it is difficult. Please label your childā€™s items.  If I see a label, I jump for joy and head straight to their classrooms to return the item. Win-Win!

Have a wonderful holiday weekend (No school on Monday due to Veteranā€™s Day)!
Lisa
From the Office
Volunteers Needed at Harvest Faire!

You may not be aware but Harvest Faire requires 100% parent volunteer participation on the day of the event.  If you havenā€™t already signed up for a shift (3 hours) please contact Meghan or Kari.  At our current sign-up rate some parents will be carrying the load of setting up a booth, staffing it the entire day, and clean-up.  Please help spread the workload (and the ā¤ļø love) by signing up!!!!!!!

Three easy ways to sign up:
1.  At drop-off or pick-up, sign up for a shift on the sheets in the Grove.  OR if you cannot make it to the Grove:
2.  Contact Meghan at info@maplevillageschool.org - Let her know what shift (above) to sign you up for.
3.  Contact Anna at anna@ablazedesignz.com

It's going to be so much fun with all of us working together!

Many thanks,
Jennie & Britt
Monday & Tuesday Morning Care Volunteers Needed

We are looking for parent volunteers to sign students in to morning care on Monday & Tuesday mornings between 8:00 - 8:30 a.m.  This will count towards your volunteer hours.  Please let the office know if you can help us.  Thank you to Gehisa, Mahsa, and Bassalla for helping us out on the other days of the week!

Parent Handwork - Tuesday & Wednesday Morning

Harvest Faire is just around the corner!  Please join us this Tuesday, Nov. 13th and Wednesday, Nov. 14th from 9:15-11:30 for handwork in the Grove.  For the upcoming Harvest Faire we will be paining rocks, making peg dolls, and making twine and bead bracelets.  It's a nice way to meet and talk with other parents.  And you get volunteer credits!

Our fall Eurythmy lessons with Mr. Dupuis culminated in an upper grades (4th - 8th) sharing with all grades classes in attendance. We were also treated with a performance from the adult Eurythmy students, and Mr. Dupuis also did a solo! We are so thankful for the depth of lessons Mr. Dupuis brings to us. We will miss him very much, as he travels back up to Northern California.  We are fortunate that Mr. Jake remains as our piano accompanist for Chorus.
Terralee Pettinger, 45-year parishioner of Emmanuel Presbyterian Church, gave the 6th, 7th and 8th grades Shady Trees class an oral history of the property and the congregation from its beginnings, through the rebuilding - necessitated by the Long Beach earthquake of 1933 - as pictured in the wall plaque (look closely) all the way to the present-day Saturday Food Bank ministry for which our Shady Trees, along with the 5th grade Manzanita class, unload the food truck each month. The Shady Trees loved becoming more connected to this wondeful property which houses our school and our middle school campus. Thank you, Terralee!
