Dear Maple Village Families,
Our school has had the pleasure of having a dynamic speaker visit us twice from Australia, and both times, she packed the house! I am very pleased to say, she contacted me once more during summer, as she is coming to L.A. this month. We will be hosting her for an evening lecture on understanding the stages of child development, how best to work with your children at home during their growth and how the Waldorf curriculum meets their needs through this journey through the grades.
Please consider planning ahead to find child care (it will not be offered on campus for this event) and attending this night - Tuesday, October 16th from 6:30 - 8:00! Lou speaks with humor, compassion, and knowledge while giving parents many easy tools to pull out of their bags. There is a flyer below with more information.
We had a wonderful few picture days. Thank you for bringing your children prepped and ready!
Please note: We are in school this Monday (Columbus/Indigenous Peoples' Day)!
We have a Faculty In-Service Day on Monday, October 15th (no student day). This is when our faculty members are able to visit other schools to observe a peer teacher in order to gain ideas, perspective and support.
Have a wonderful weekend. I’m very excited to show my visiting Swiss student the UCLA campus, take in a soccer game and finally see my two college boys!
Warmly,
Lisa

Adult Classes with Sebastien Dupuis
Thursdays: September 20 - November 1 (7 weeks). There's still space to join!
1:00-2:00 Eurythmy

2:00-3:30 Anthroposophical Study
Through observation, practical exercises and study we will explore how Anthroposophy (the philosophy at the source of Waldorf education) can help us acquire a deeper experience of the social question, liberty of thought, and a knowledge of the spiritual nature of the human being.
Please sign up in the MVWS office (participant minimum 4, maximum 16).
You may drop in to individual classes ($10 each) or register for both classes for all 7 weeks ($100). Cash or checks (made out to Sebastien Dupuis) are accepted.

Hello Dear Families,
2018 has been an empowering year for women, but also painful and confusing. And I’m speaking from the perspective of an adult. I constantly wonder about the messages our girls are getting, both directly and indirectly. What do they hear us whispering (or quarreling) about, after each loathsome event in the media? What snippets of news do they chew on, but can’t quite digest? What questions they have, but are too timid to ask? Page Turners’ aim is simple; to give girls a space to think critically, to disagree, to deepen empathy, and build a supportive community. Topics are approached by journeying through appropriate and moving novels, written by and for women.
If you’d like your daughter to be a part of the conversation, I’m hoping to make it even easier by offering $20 off using the promo code CHAPTER1. Tuesdays, at the Hangout on 4th, starting October 16th. Fitting for grades 4/5/6.
I'm happy to answer any and all questions you may have. Feel free to contact me @ PageTurnersBookClubLA@gmail.com
Warmly,
Cori Amendt
