Dear Maple Village Families,
Something incredible happened in our Social Hall last night. Not only did our 7th/8th Grade Evergreen Class perform the play they wrote, directed, acted and for which they created all the props, costumes, and special effects and set design.. they also did everything astonishingly well! I am talking professionally- buy your ticket in advance-and sell out the seats-well. Yet, I am not sure if I was more impressed with their play or by the words of Hara, who guided them. Before the students took the stage, Hara (from KITE) shared that with all the work she does with so many students from so many schools, she truly finds something markedly unique here. She talked about what she sees in these students: true kindness, a deep want to help each other, an ability to take direction and grow, a refreshing maturity, and sincere caring for each other and their work. I struggle to understand why this is so unique in teenagers, and yet, I know she is right. She painted a picture of children who are protected over the years, and how these children are who they are as a result. Seriously, it was hard for me to not weep.
I look forward to watching them Promote on Tuesday evening. A few of them sat on my lap when they were in Parent/Toddler Class. "Time Flies" is a saying for a reason, and I will miss all of them very much.
In other news (literally).. Look who landed on the AWNSA home page! Li’ ol’ us!
Have a beautiful weekend.
I can’t believe we wrap next week!
Lisa

Volunteer Program Instructions
As the school year comes to a close, we wanted to remind you how to log your volunteer hours in our new website:
Welcome to your Maple Village Volunteer Program. Thank you for your volunteer time. Your personal login will enable you to add volunteer hours, add a family member, or update your volunteer profile. Please submit time accordingly. Every time you submit volunteer time, an email will be sent to your Room Parent or Committee Chair. Thank you.
To begin, please visit: http://maplevillageschool-volunteers.com
You will be asked to login to the system with a username and password.
Username: Please use your eldest MVWS child’s first name and initial of their last name. For example: George Washington would be “georgew”. Uppercase/lowercase does not matter, and will still log you in.
Password: Please use your eldest MVWS child’s birthdate. For example, if your child’s birthdate is May, 10, 2008, your password would be 05102008. The password should be 8 digits long. (Do not use /)
To Add Volunteer Hours
- Make sure you are logged in.
- In the top right menu of the page, click on ‘Add Time’.
- Choose the Committee or Classroom that you performed volunteer work for.
- Choose a name from your account in the drop-down menu under ‘Who Performed the Task’. (If you need to add a name, please see the section below titled ‘Add a volunteer to my account’)
- Choose the date you performed the task
- Input the number of hours of work performed. You may use decimals to indicate portions of an hour (30 minute= 0.5; 15 minutes= 0.25)
- Type in the task performed. A brief description is all that is necessary
- Press ‘Submit’
- Please note: Your total Hours Accumulated will display at the bottom of this form, as well as a log of registered hours. Each family is expected to contribute 20 hours by the end of the school year.
Add an additional volunteer to my account
If you would like to add an additional person to your profile, such as a family member who assisted in volunteering, you may add them by:
- Click on Profile
- In the 2nd field labeled ‘Work Performed By’, type in the name of the person you would like to add. If you are adding more than one person, click on “+Add” button to add an additional field. Scroll down to the bottom of the form and press “Update”
- You may add as many persons as you like.
- This allows you to choose from a drop-down list when you add the hours.
If you have questions or experience any problems, please use the ‘Contact Us’ link on the website.
