Dear Maple Village Community,
As we start walking through May, we are looking toward the next school year in many ways, including improving programming. The Pedagogical Committee has been reflecting on our weekly schedule. As you know, our days have been scheduled to end at 1:00 on Wednesdays to facilitate weekly faculty meetings. With the growth of our curriculum and the need to stagger dismissal, we feel it is important to adjust our weekly schedule a bit next year to allow for one more lesson period.
For the 2018-2019 school year, our Wednesday dismissal schedule will be:
- Preschool and Kindergarten will release at 1:15 as a normal day, supporting consistency.
- Grades 1-8 will all release at 1:45, enabling them to have one more lesson period.
Thank you to our Gala Committee for everything they are doing to make our May 18th Gala so amazing!! Did you know we are able to enter through the museum this year and spend time there before entering the beautiful sculpture garden? I, for one, am very excited about celebrating our 10-year anniversary this way. Plus, the theme of Enchanted Garden has enabled me to wear a repurposed fancy flowered tablecloth. ;-) Please go to mvgala.org to find all the details you need and purchase tickets!
This month, Discussion with the Dean will be Friday, May 11th from 10:00 a.m. - 11:15 a.m. (note the different time).
Please bring your questions about Waldorf philosophy and how it can help you be the parent you want to be!
This is adults-only, and RSVPs are helpful, but not necessary. Bring your favorite beverage and an inquiring mind!
With gratitude for all of you,
Lisa

Hi Villagers - the Gala is quickly approaching and there is some incredible stuff up for grabs this year. Here are a few things we want you to keep in mind (More info is available www.MVGala.org)
* DESSERT is scarce - start planning with your table now
* People are already preparing to bid on the McCARTHY DINNER - this is going to be a fierce competition - see the attached sheet for more info and get ready to BID
* Credit Cards will be accepted this year for all purchases (bar tickets, auction items, etc.) but the school incurs a fee for every transaction so CASH or CHECK are always preferred (and cash tips for bartenders)
Gala Donations - we are still collecting GIFT CARDS, so if you own a business or frequent a local business and want to request a tax-deductible donation on our behalf please email me ASAP and I will gladly provide the forms
Gala Volunteers - anyone available for day-of set up and/or volunteer during the
event - please email me ASAP
with gratitude for all things Gala,
Andi

Want a Yearbook? Me too!
But right now we don’t have the photos we need to make it happen. We really need your photos. Like, really really.
We are making it even easier for you to share your photos. You can upload your smart phone’s pictures directly to your class’s Shutterfly Site (or email to mvwsyearbook@gmail.com). Please remember to include basic information about the photo.
Types of Photos we need...
Candids or Posed for the following:
- Parent/Tot
- Me & My Baby
- Winter Spiral
- Field Trips
- Spanish
- Woodworking
- Handwork (upper & lower grades)
- Grades Work
- Games
- Gardening
- Eurythmy
- Music
- Service
- National Green Ribbon Award
- Gala (be there!)
Please consider taking photos of these things if/when you are able. You won’t even get scolded ;) because we ALL want a yearbook! Let me know if you are able to go to campus with a great camera to get some great shots for us. That would be AMAZING!
Thank you from the bottom of my heart,
Your hopeful but desperate Yearbook Chairperson,
Jo Hendrix |
