Letter from our Dean
Dear Maple Village Families,

As our school grows, we try to also grow our programs. This week….for the first time ever… the BABIES came to class! Well, they brought their parents too. "Me & My Baby”  classes began on Wednesday, meeting the needs of parents and babies from 3 months old to 17 months. Our own Ms. Sarah, who also works as a doula and parent educator, is the lead teacher, and she brought joy and calm to all. After a morning of singing, baby massage, play dough, biscuit making, playtime and discussion on parenting, the response was fantastic! I have to say, I was smiling all day. Babies can do that to a person who has teenagers.  We still have one spot in the pre-walkers class, and two spots left in the class for walkers, so if you have friends who might want to dip their toes in the Maple Village pond, spread the word!
I wanted to remind everyone that this weekend Daylight Savings Time begins. We know it is more difficult to send your children to bed when it is lighter outside, but if you work with them a little bit each night, you will blend into the new time with more ease.  We do expect all children to be at school on time on Monday. ;-)

I leave you with this poem by Robert Louis Stevenson.

Bed In Summer

In Winter I get up at night
And dress by yellow candle light.
In Summer, quite the other way,
I have to go to bed by day.
I have to go to bed and see
The birds still hopping on the tree,
Or hear the grown-up people's feet
Still going past me in the street.
And does it not seem hard to you,
When all the sky is clear and blue,
And I should like so much to play,
To have to go to bed by day?

Warmly,
Lisa

Spring Break Childcare Survey

I’m gathering information for childcare needs during our next break from Monday, March 26th to Friday, April 6th.  Please take the time to answer our brief survey by CLICKING HERE.  The more information we have, the easier it is to determine if there is a need for us to have Spring Break childcare.  Ms. Ciana and Ms. Jewel did a wonderful job with our last break childcare.  If you have questions, please contact me at business.admin@maplevillageschool.org.

Thanks for your time and for answering our survey,
Pam Villano

School on Wheels

We will be collecting school supplies for Make A Difference Day on March 18, 2018.  Pam Villano will be the team leader for the School on Wheels.  This organization reaches out to children experiencing homelessness.  If you and your family can pick one or two items from the list below and bring them to the Grove Room, it would make an enormous difference to children who are in need.

  • Backpacks
  • Highlighters
  • Pencil cases
  • Crayons
  • Markers

If you have any questions please contact Pam Villano at 562-434-8200 or business.admin@maplevillageschool.org

Please Take 5 Minutes and Review Us!

Dear families,

It is enrollment season, and many families are looking into our lovely school.  There are many ways people search, and looking on Yelp, Great Schools and Facebook are three of them.

Would you please post a review on one, two or all? It is quick, easy and very helpful!

Facebook:  You can rate us by clicking on the stars, and you can also post a review below.

Thank you so much!
2018-2019 Enrollment Now Open!

Hello MVWS families,

Reenrollment for the 2018-2019 school year is now open.  We will be exclusively enrolling returning students for five weeks until we open the enrollment process to new families as well on April 2nd.  This reenrollment period is for students currently in Preschool through 7th grade. There are two contracts -- one for Preschoolers and one for K-8 students.

A note on Preschool: Parent/Toddler families wanting to enroll in Preschool will need to go through our full admissions process, but will still receive enrollment priority over new families. We are once again offering 3-day Preschool classes for next school year. If you would be interested in and could commit to a 4-day or 5-day class, please let us know. We cannot promise that 4- or 5-day programs will be available, but we are exploring possibilities and would like to hear from those with serious interest.

This year we are offering a registration discount to families reenrolling by March 15th:  Early registration fees will be $175 per child.  Once this discount expires, registration fees will increase to $350 per child. We're also offering several tuition discount tiers for families paying full annual tuition in advance, up to 7% off (details in contract)!

To reenroll, please stop by our office with a fully completed & signed enrollment contract for each child and your payment of annual registration & supply fees to hold your child's spot in the class.  Enrollment contracts and payment must be submitted together and will not be accepted separately.  Please read the entire contract carefully and keep a copy for your records.

If you have questions about the reenrollment process, feel free to call/email me or stop by the office.  Questions about your account balance or tuition adjustment should be directed to Pam Villano at business.admin@maplevillageschool.org.  All ATA families will need to reapply for next school year by May 1st (i.e. update TADS application and submit new offer letter to Pam) and will be informed of a decision by May 31st.

Thank you for reenrolling as soon as possible, as this allows us to better prepare financially and logistically for the upcoming school year!

Warmly,
Alice

Yearbook Committee Update

We are excited to be making a yearbook available for families this year! We are making the book more affordable as it is growing in size (along with our school!) by offering a tax-deductible marketing opportunity for local businesses that are in alignment with our values.

If you have any business leads that you think would be interested please email us at mvwsyearbook@gmail.com

Also, we want YOUR photos!
Please email high resolution photos along with photo details, such as:

Scrip - Go Mobile!

You have until March 2nd to take advantage of a great offer! Athleta, Gap, Banana Republic and Old Navy are offering 20% of sales right now on Shop With Scrip.  That means if you purchase a gift card for $100 at one of these stores and even use that over time, Maple Village gets $20! Go to www.ShopWithScrip.com or www.myscripwallet.com.

Did you know that you can effectively install a mobile app on your smartphone to purchase or reload ShopWithScrip gift cards and use them immediately to pay for purchases?   To install the app, visit myscripwallet.com.  Once there, iPhone users can tap the up arrow icon at the very bottom of their screen (the icon that looks like an arrow in a square), then choose “add to home screen”.

On an Android phone, tap the menu button in Chrome (probably 3 dots at the top right corner of the screen) and then choose “Add to homescreen”.  If you use Firefox for Android, press the menu button, click the “page” option, and then tap “Add to home screen”.  An icon will now appear on the home screen of your smartphone.

The great part about using MyScripWallet is that you can finish your shopping or ordering, and then purchase a ScripNow e-card or reload another existing card right before you are ready to pay (we often order cards while standing in line at Whole Foods and Starbucks, or right before submitting an order on smile.amazon.com).  The clerk will scan the barcode on your phone and you can pay any remaining balance with cash or credit/debit card.  Any unused gift card balances can be used at a later time.

Remember to watch for ShopWithScrip bonuses (sometimes up to 25% scrip rates) and to complete any online ordering through either smile.amazon.com or escrip.com to double up on scrip, earning through both the website and a purchased e-card.

On February 16, the Evergreens brought Shakespeare’s Midsummer Night’s Dream to life on our own Social Hall stage.  Michael, Jules, Sophie, Peter, Katia, Kian, Yomaris, and Sydney gave superb performances to a very receptive audience.  They all joined together to give us a very special evening. We laughed and reveled along with them.  It was truly an unforgettable night!  Thank you, Evergreens, for this wonderful rendition of this classic— and thank you, too, for all the exceptional performances you have provided for our school over the last seven years!
