Letter from our Dean
Dear Maple Village Community,

Each year, after Harvest Faire, we reflect on how spectacular it was and how it could not possibly get better. THEN, to our amazement, it does!

This year, the Girl Scout camp was not only visually totally transformed into The Village of Maple, but all characters in costume were stunning and so authentic! I heard nothing but extremely positive gushing response from all faire-goers during the course of the day, and I think it speaks volumes that so many parent and teacher volunteers said it was FUN and a true pleasure. In addition, I was astonished by the constant crowd. We definitely had our best turn-out ever due to increased marketing, posted banners and Facebook ads & parents sharing on their pages.

Thank you to our brilliant Harvest Faire leaders, Kari Rahni and Eliza Cadavona for organizing this HUGE effort.

Thank you to all of the subcommittee chairs who guided their areas with such precise detail to make it flow seamlessly. Thank you to those who set up and took down - hauled furniture, hay bales, props, costumes, prizes, craft items, food, musical instruments and so much more. Thank you to our volunteer chefs who cooked the entire day before. Thank you to all the parents, students, faculty and staff who worked shifts all day whether in a Village booth, in the Fairy/Gnome house building, Tea with the Queen, Games for the younger and older children, Prize area, Knighting, Crafts, Costuming, Cafe, and Store. If you are still reading this, count the times the word ‘thank’ appears in this letter, and come to my office with the correct answer on Monday after break for a treat. Thank you to our Manzanita jump ropers and all of our musical stage performers and daring fire dancers. Thank you to all the businesses and individuals who donated items. There are so many people to thank, so I am thankful (ha!) that our Harvest Faire Chairs are breaking it down in their article as well! (See below).

I found out that our parents were our best marketers! As they worked their booths, they talked to so many other parents about our school and who we are. Bravo!

If you can’t tell, I am just blown away by our 100% participation in this community event. We are ON THE MAP. And with the Belmont Shore Holiday Parade coming up on December 2nd, we will be sharing ourselves with the community again!

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving week ahead. You deserve a break!

With volumes of gratitude,
Lisa

1st Grade Readiness Parent Info Meeting

Friday, December 1st
For Parents & Caregivers of Kindergarten Students

Come learn about the six-year-old change and first grade readiness with our Kindergarten faculty! Two time slots are available:
  • 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. (aftercare program available)
  • 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Please RSVP with Alice in the office and include which time slot you'd like. Normal aftercare rules and procedures apply to students staying in aftercare during the first time slot. The meeting is for adults only.

Friendly Snack/Lunch Reminder

At this time of year, as we say goodbye to Halloween and as we enter Thanksgiving and December holidays, we would just like to remind everyone about our snack and lunch guidelines.

Food Choices: Please continue to pack healthy options for your children (protein, fruit, vegetables, grains) and avoid processed foods and sweet treats.

Packaging: As a nearly zero-waste school, we ask that you pack in reusable containers and try to avoid single-use packaging (packaging and wrapping that is thrown away after one use). If you pack with ziplock baggies, please ask your children to bring them home, as they are easy to wash out and use again and again! Our Ocean Healers were selling reusable fabric baggies last year, and I still have some in my office for anyone interested.

Thank you!

Hello Amazing Villagers!

Oh my goodness! What a success this year's Harvest Faire was!!! Not
only did we double out our attendance and our gross income but we also
had 100% family participation. In some way shape or form, big or
small, we all made this happen! Congratulations to us all!!!

We can not say thank you enough to the entire Harvest Faire committee.
These women are truly amazing, talented and passionate women with so
much heart!!! We are lucky to have them in our community!

We'd love to hear from you! What was your favorite part of the Faire?
Do you have any suggestions to make next year's Faire even better?

We'd also love to add any pictures you may have taken to our google
pics. Please send any you'd like to share to
maplevillageharvestfaire@gmail.com or add that email to your google
pics.

In Gratitude,

Kari and Eliza

I'll be starting a new jump rope class at a dance studio in Long Beach, and I thought some of the MVWS students might be interested in joining. The class will take place at:
MMSdance
The rest of the information is included in the flyer attached above. Parents can register their kids at the website - www.letsjumpla.com. Once I know how many students are interested, I'll schedule a weekly class. The classes will eventually become a performance and competition team - the first in Long Beach!
